When you visit Kuala Lumpur, the second place to go to after the Petronas towers should be the Merdeka Square (Independence Square) and Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

Merdeka Square is the first place where the Malaysian flag was hoisted back in the year 1957.

Sultan Abdul Samad building hosted the government offices during the British colonial administration.

Nowadays became popular for the annual Independence Day parade.

The Merdeka Square  is opposite to the Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

Merdeka Square has a big green field and a tall Malaysian flag pole. In the area you can find souvenir shops, eateries and flower gardens.

Beneath the field you will notice some underground stairs, which will take you to underground car parking, with shops and local restaurants to taste the Malaysian dishes.
