Autumn 2018 in Northern Hemisphere will begin in September

Autumn 2018 in Northern Hemisphere will begin in September. Born and raised in Romania, i had the opportunity to experience the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter.

Looking back, thinking to the month of September reminds me of the new school year starting in Romania, households busy preparing stocks for vegetables & food for animals for the coming winter and to harvest the ripe crops from the fields and gardens.

Frequent questions I received from people is that, is it true that my country love to eat meat?  Having 4 seasons, it is not easy to to find all the year fresh vegetables like in Malaysia, during autumn the Romanian stress out to make stocks for winter, of course not fresh vegetables but at least pickles and some frozen vegetables.

September is not an easy month for the middle income families, especially due to the rising costs, to prepare for the winter stocks, buying more clothes for the cold season, increase electric and gas bills, due to additional usage for heaters and last but not least, need to get ready for the new school year uniforms and books.

Sometimes the poor families are not able to do any stocks for winter due to the financial problems.

Nowadays all kinds of pickles are available in the retail markets, but the recipes and taste are not the same as per our grandmother's recipes.

In my family my grandmother was the only one who knows the recipes for pickles, jams, salads and many more.

Hopefully her legacy can be continued. Some of the winter preparation, currently prepared by my father.
